Very Good Manufacturing runs beverage production for leading alcohol & alcohol alternative brands. We specialize in distilled spirits and RTD cocktails, and our high speed canning and bottling lines accommodate all TTB approved sizes and fill levels. We have an on-site R&D Beverage Laboratory for private label concepting & formulation.
Our company is growing fast: the Fort Worth, Texas production facility tripled in size in 2023, and we are planning multiple facilities for expansion. We are looking for professional, talented and driven individuals to join our team and grow with the company.
About the role:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Lead Service Technician ensures every high-speed production line runs smoothly, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Our ideal candidate for this role has extensive experience working in a bottling or canning production facility. We are expanding quickly, regularly installing new lines and equipment, and we are looking for someone who is as excited as we are to get new production lines up and running.
We are a small, fast-paced team, and the company is growing fast. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to get in early, take ownership of this department, and build out their team.
Compensation:
$70,000 - $135,000 per year
What you'll do:
- Ensure every production line runs smoothly, from mechanical systems and packaging machines, to batching, processing, and auxiliary equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings and testing equipment as necessary.
- Develop and execute Maintenance SOPs for production lines and critical systems, including: daily routine inspection, daily routine maintenance, planned preventive (condition- or volume-based) maintenance at regular intervals.
- Make recommendations for necessary spare parts and backup equipment for more efficient performance.
- Scope projects, prepare cost estimates, and manage external contractors/subcontractors when needed for labor intensive or speciality projects, such as new machine installations, extensive repairs, specialty change parts, and/or production line upgrades.
- Work with the Production team to understand their feedback from running daily shifts on the production lines. React quickly to recurring or extended down time with a repair or upgrade plan. When necessary, join production shifts to observe machine function and troubleshoot during production.
- Work with the Production and Operations teams to coordinate planned downtime to complete installs, repairs, or replacements.
- Create and maintain routine maintenance logs for all major machines and packaging equipment.
- Create and maintain performance and down-time/efficiency logs for all major machines and packaging equipment to better understand the impact of maintenance-led initiatives.
What you'll bring:
- 4+ years experience as a maintenance technician in a bottling or canning beverage production facility.
- Advanced level of knowledge in and experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors.
- Advanced PLC programming and associated software suites.
- Experience with servo motors.
- Experience leading control system installations and upgrades.
- Experience designing and building control and electrical panels.
- The ability to create and review control drawings and schematics.
- The ability to install, program and troubleshoot VFD’s.
- Understanding of wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, PI&D drawings and control schematics.
- Server configuration for control data manipulation: i.e. SQL, Java, HTML
- Preferred: HVAC or Limited Building Maintenance Electrician (LBME) certification.
- Preferred: Welding, fabrication experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor's or Technical Trade school degree.
