Operations Compliance Manager

About the role:
As the Operations Compliance Manager at Very Good, you’ll ensure that company operations comply with applicable regulations, while continuously improving policies and training employees on compliance practices.
Two groups of candidates will be a great fit for this role:
- Experienced specialists with deep expertise in one compliance vertical, with an interest and curiosity to expand to others.
- Experienced generalists with broad experience in manufacturing and beverage/food safety compliance verticals.
Compensation:
$70,000 - $130,000 per year
What you'll do ...
Supervise all processes involving compliance and regulations.
- Food Safety (HACCP/BRC/SQF), Manufacturing and Workplace Safety (GMPs/OSHA), Alcohol Regulation (TTB/TABC).
- Monitor and interpret applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ensure organizational policies, practices and records are compliant with relevant requirements.
Develop and implement regular internal auditing and reporting.
- Lead recurring internal audits to ensure compliance with laws, requirements and regulations. Prepare reports and documentation to proactively identify and address compliance risks.
- Prepare detailed reports on audit findings, highlighting areas of non-compliance; recommending corrective actions; and working with relevant team leads to ensure the timely implementation of corrective actions.
Prepare for and lead the company through audits and inspections.
- Take ownership of building a company culture that is audit- and inspection-ready any time, any day.
- Proactively research updated regulatory guidelines and best practices; revise and implement updated compliance procedures as appropriate.
- Establish and implement training programs across teams to ensure employees are aware of all regulatory requirements, and are consistently adhering to internal policies.
Expand on our current set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Our operational focus as a company is on systems, processes and documentation, across every team and department.

Oversee document control policies.
- Maintain organized and detailed records of all compliance activities, including SOPs, training, risk assessments, incident investigations, and resolutions.
- Ensure all required documentation is up to date and accessible for audits at all times.
What you'll bring ...
Experience and education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 5-10+ years of experience working as a Compliance Manager or in a similar role.
- Advanced knowledge of industry trends, laws, and regulations (GMPs, OSHA, BRC/SQF, TABC/TTB).
Communication skills:
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and actionable guidance on compliance matters to all levels of the organization, including senior management.
- Experience drafting reports and communicating audit findings to internal and external stakeholders, regulators, or clients.
- Ability to present complex compliance issues to non-compliance professionals in a way that is easily understood.
Investigative and problem-solving skills:
- Proven ability to investigate compliance breaches, non-conformities, or internal violations and develop corrective action plans.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve regulatory and compliance challenges.
