LIQUID OPERATIONS

$52k - $75k per year DOE

Blending Operations Specialist

About Very Good

We run bottling and canning for the biggest spirits and beverage brands in the world - names you'd recognize on any back bar.  It's relentlessly challenging and a lot of fun.

Our best hires come from everywhere: engineering, fabrication, craft brewing, military maintenance and logistics, software startups. What they share isn't a background. It's a mindset: curious about how systems work, precise by instinct, and and more alive when things get interesting.

If your background is non-traditional but this description sounds like you, please apply.

The Role

The Blending Operations Specialist owns the execution of batching and blending for our liquid production. You will work independently to weigh, batch, blend, and prepare product runs across spirits, wine-based cocktails, and alcohol-alternative beverages.

This is a hands-on role where precision and discipline are non-negotiable. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply interested in how things are made, thrives on process discipline, and takes pride in the craft of production itself.

Compensation

$52k - $75k per year DOE

What You’ll Do

  • Safely receive and unload full tankers of alcohol.
  • Execute batching and blending operations across 800–6,000 gallon batch sizes, including precise weighing, ingredient addition, and timing, per customer specifications.
  • Maintain 100% accuracy in batch documentation, weights, and process records. Contribute to SOP development and revisions.
  • Operate and maintain blending systems including tanks, pumps, high-shear blenders, flow meters, hoses and filtration equipment.
  • Perform tank transfers, product movement, and line changeovers.
  • Pull in-process samples and run specification tests independently (Brix, pH, turbidity, DO) using our on-site lab, cross-verifying results with the Quality Control team.
  • Manage RO/UV water systems and regular water testing procedures.
  • Execute CIP/COP procedures on tanks, blending vessels, transfer lines, and related equipment.
  • Prepare and verify chemical concentrations for cleaning and sanitation cycles.
  • Maintain CIP documentation and sanitation logs in compliance with HACCP, GMP, and FDA standards.
  • Conduct recurring cycle counts of all blending materials on hand.
  • Execute startup and shutdown procedures to maintain a clean, organized, and safe blending area.

About You

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years in a hands-on production environment where precision and process discipline matter. This could be brewing, distilling, winemaking, food & beverage manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, ingredient handling, and CIP/sanitation.
  • Comfort with precise measurement, batch documentation, and following (and improving) SOPs.
  • Physically able to perform demanding production work: lifting 50+ lbs, standing for extended periods, working in variable temperature environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in cellar operations, craft brewing, distilling, or winemaking.
  • Familiarity with QC lab procedures: Brix, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, or similar analytical testing.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort troubleshooting industrial equipment.

Work Environment

This is an on-site production role. You will work in an active manufacturing facility handling alcohol, chemicals, and heavy equipment. The role is physically demanding and requires the ability to stand, lift, and work in variable conditions throughout the day.
