About Very Good Manufacturing:

Very Good Mfg runs co-packing and co-manufacturing for leading alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage brands in Fort Worth, Texas. We specialize in distilled spirits, ready-to-drink (RTD) and canned cocktails, and our high speed canning and bottling lines accommodate all TTB-approved sizes and fill levels. We have a full on-site R&D Laboratory for private label beverage concepting & formulation.

Our company is growing fast, and our production facility will triple in size by the end of 2023. We are looking for professional, talented and driven individuals to join our team at every level.

 

About the Production Manager Role:

Reporting to the Director of Production, the Production Manager supervises and runs a production shift in the co-packing facility to manufacture quality beverages for our customers. The Production Manager is responsible for running up to 3 production lines concurrently, ensuring that every line meets established safety, quality and production goals. The Production Manager directly supervises Production Team Members on each production line, and promotes continuous improvement and a positive work environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages and directs all activities and personnel during the production shift, ensuring that all production lines are running as efficiently as possible, and beverage products are consistently produced, tested and controlled according to Very Good quality and safety standards.
  • Utilize available data to continuously improve productivity, uptime and reliability.
  • Learn, understand and operate all machines on the packaging line.
  • Our leadership team has a mechanical & engineering background, and will absolutely train individuals who don’t have specific work experience with canning/bottling line equipment, but demonstrate mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn.
  • Inventory Staging: Ensure that required material is supplied to the production floor as according to the production schedule. Supervise Quality Control Techs in documenting lot-tracked inventory usage, assist and/or train where necessary.
  • Finished Goods: Ensure that finished goods are properly palletized and prepared for outbound shipment. Work with Warehouse team to coordinate facility-wide movement of goods.
  • Production Team Management: Supervise and coordinate production operations for Production Team Members, including scheduling, time management, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Publish daily weekly crew schedules for line staffing. Maintain skills matrix.
    • Communicate Very Good policies and SOPs to hourly team members, including safety, quality, productivity and efficiency. Ensure employees are following Good Manufacturing Practices and additional safety policies at all times.
    • Work with Production Team Members to optimize the configuration of the team on the line. Assign duties based upon work order, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel. Promote top performers to Line Leads or specialized Operators.
    • Manage digital Time Keeping system for all hourly employees, and complete Production Personnel reports for each production shift.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance through the shift handoffs and maintenance weekly operation review (MWOR) regarding priority, action items, and follow-ups.
  • Maintain Production Floor in accordance with GMPs, SQF, and Very Good company policy, and enforce product safety and sanitation regulations at all times.
  • Work cross-functionally with Tank Room, Warehouse, Quality, Mechanical/Electrical teams to ensure operational success throughout every production shift.

 

Qualifications:

  • 4 - 6 years experience in food/beverage manufacturing.
  • Above average mechanical proficiency with the capability to operate, and train Production Team Members to operate, production/packaging lines.
    • A strong plus: Experience with the safe use of tools and machinery associated with trade and/or maintenance work.
    • A strong plus: Experience with PLC programming.
    • A strong plus: Experience with typical warehouse/manufacturing equipment, such as fillers, seamers, labelers, pallet jacks, and/or pumps and piping.
    • A strong plus: Experience with operating a forklift.
  • Self-motivated to drive continuous improvement across the entire Production team. A desire for accuracy and high levels of attention to detail, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with implementing and enforcing SOPs, GMPs, and safety policies on the production floor.
  • Previous supervisory experience. Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to lead and motivate a team and maintain a positive morale in the workforce.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

 

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • The use and wear of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • The ability to move, lift, push, and carry objects up to 50lbs.
  • The ability to be on your feet for 8+ hours per day in a manufacturing/warehouse environment with variable temperatures.
